Aufruf: Die Europäische Kommission muss Impfstoffe und Behandlungen gegen COVID-19 zu einem globalen öffentlichen Gut machen.
Liebe Mitglieder und Sympathisanten,
AHA Lëtzebuerg unterstützt die Europäische Bürgerinitiative "Kein Profit durch die Pandemie" - Right to Cure - European Citizens' Initiative, zusammen mit mehr als 375 zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen in ganz Europa.
Auch wenn wir in Luxemburg derzeit das Gefühl haben, die COVID-19-Pandemie (mehr oder weniger) unter Kontrolle zu haben, ist sie weltweit noch lange nicht ausgerottet, da Impfstoffe gegen COVID-19 für einen Großteil der Weltbevölkerung immer noch nicht zugänglich sind.
Als Humanisten setzen wir uns ein für einen solidarischen und gerechten Zugang zu den Errungenschaften der medizinischen Forschung und Entwicklung in allen Ländern der Welt. Siehe hierzu auch die Resolution der Generalversammlung von Humanists International, die 2021 ratifiziert wurde (Global Access to Vaccines in Response to COVID-19: https://humanists.international/policy/global-access-vaccines-covid-19).
Die Kluft zwischen den reichsten Ländern, von denen einige über genügend Impfstoffdosen verfügen, um ihre Bevölkerung mehrfach zu impfen, und den ärmsten Ländern, die davon ausgeschlossen sind, hat sich vergrößert. Durch den ungleichen Zugang können sich auch neue Varianten des Virus schneller verbreiten, wodurch die Pandemie länger dauert und mehr Menschen sterben.
Es gibt eine Lösung: Wenn die Pharmaunternehmen ihr Wissen offen teilen und anderen Ländern die Herstellung von Impfstoffen ermöglichen würden, könnten wir die Pandemie viel schneller beenden. Patente müssen aufgehoben werden und es darf kein Profit aus dieser Pandemie gemacht werden.
Unsere Regierungen und die Europäische Kommission müssen vor der Welthandelsorganisation (WTO) über einen Vorschlag zur vorübergehenden Aufhebung der pharmazeutischen Monopole auf Impfstoffe, Behandlungen und Technologien gegen COVID-19 abstimmen.
Die Europäische Kommission scheint jedoch immer noch bereit zu sein, die Interessen der Pharmakonzerne über die Bedürfnisse und Rechte der Menschen auf der ganzen Welt zu stellen, und blockiert diese doch so dringend notwendige Maßnahme.
Deshalb laden wir Sie ein, die Europäische Bürgerinitiative "Kein Profit durch die Pandemie" zu unterzeichnen, um Druck auf die Europäische Kommission auszuüben, damit Impfstoffe und Behandlungsmöglichkeiten gegen COVID-19 weltweit verfügbar werden.
Wir brauchen eine Million Unterschriften, um die Haltung der Europäischen Kommission zu ändern und die lebenswichtigen Impfstoffe und Behandlungen gegen Covid-19 für alle Menschen auf der ganzen Welt zugänglich zu machen.

Appel: La Commission européenne doit faire des vaccins et traitements contre le COVID-19 un bien public mondial.
Chers / Chères membres et sympathisants,
AHA Lëtzebuerg soutient l'initiative citoyenne européenne "Pas de profit sur la pandémie" - Right to Cure - European Citizens' Initiative, ensemble avec plus de 375 organisations de la société civile à travers l'Europe.
Même si, au Luxembourg, nous avons actuellement le sentiment d'avoir (plus ou moins) maîtrisé la pandémie de la COVID-19, celle-ci est loin d'être éradiquée dans le monde entier, car les vaccins contre la COVID-19 sont toujours inaccessibles à une grande partie de la population mondiale.
En tant qu'humanistes, nous nous engageons pour un accès solidaire et équitable aux acquis de la recherche et du développement médical dans tous les pays du monde. Voir également à ce sujet la résolution de l'Assemblée générale d'Humanists International ratifiée en 2021 (Global Access to Vaccines in Response to COVID-19: https://humanists.international/policy/global-access-vaccines-covid-19).
En effet, le fossé s'est creusé entre les pays les plus riches, dont certains disposent de suffisamment de doses de vaccins pour vacciner plusieurs fois leur population, et les pays les plus pauvres, qui restent à l'écart. L'inégalité d'accès permet également à de nouvelles variantes du virus de se propager plus rapidement, ce qui prolonge la durée de la pandémie et fait davantage de victimes.
Une solution existe: si les entreprises pharmaceutiques partageaient ouvertement leurs connaissances et permettaient à d'autres pays de produire des vaccins, nous pourrions mettre fin à cette pandémie bien plus rapidement. Les brevets doivent être levés, et aucun profit ne devrait être toléré sur cette pandémie.
Nos gouvernements et la Commission européenne doivent se prononcer sur une proposition visant à lever temporairement les monopoles pharmaceutiques sur les vaccins, les traitements et les technologies contre la COVID-19 devant l'Organisation Mondiale du Commerce (OMC).
Cependant, la Commission européenne semble encore prête à faire passer les intérêts des entreprises pharmaceutiques avant les besoins et les droits des populations du monde entier, et bloque cette action pourtant tellement nécessaire.
C'est pourquoi nous vous invitons à signer l'initiative citoyenne européenne “Pas de profit sur la pandémie”, afin de faire pression sur la Commission européenne pour que les vaccins et les traitements contre le COVID-19 deviennent disponibles dans le monde entier.
Nous avons besoin d'un million de signatures pour changer la position de la Commission européenne et rendre les vaccins et traitements essentiels du Covid-19 accessibles à toutes et tous, partout sur la planète.

Call: The European Commission must make vaccines and treatments against COVID-19 a global public good
Dear members and supporters,
AHA Lëtzebuerg supports the European Citizens' Initiative "No profit on pandemic" - Right to Cure - European Citizens’ Initiative - together with more than 375 civil society organisations across Europe.
Even though in Luxembourg we currently feel that we have (more or less) mastered the COVID-19 pandemic, it is far from being eradicated worldwide, as vaccines against COVID-19 are still inaccessible to a large part of the world's population.
As humanists, we are committed to fair and equitable access to the achievements of medical research and development in all countries of the world. See also the Humanists International General Assembly resolution ratified in 2021 (Global Access to Vaccines in Response to COVID-19: https://humanists.international/policy/global-access-vaccines-covid-19).
The gap has widened between the richest countries, some of which have enough vaccine doses to vaccinate their populations several times over, and the poorest countries, which are left out. Unequal access also allows new variants of the virus to spread more rapidly, prolonging the duration of the pandemic and killing more people.
There is a solution: if pharmaceutical companies openly shared their knowledge and allowed other countries to produce vaccines, we could end this pandemic much faster. Patents must be lifted, and no profit should be allowed on this pandemic.
Our governments and the European Commission must decide on a proposal to temporarily lift pharmaceutical monopolies on vaccines, treatments and technologies against COVID-19 at the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
However, the European Commission still seems ready to put the interests of pharmaceutical companies ahead of the needs and rights of people around the world, and is blocking this much needed action.
This is why we invite you to sign the European Citizens' Initiative "No Profit on Pandemic", to put pressure on the European Commission to make COVID-19 vaccines and treatments available worldwide.
We need one million signatures to change the European Commission's position and make essential Covid-19 vaccines and treatments available to everyone, everywhere on the planet.
