Reflections on « Humanist Confirmation in Flanders, Belgium »
On 11th January 2022, I attended the European Humanist Professionals (EHP) webinar on « Humanist Confirmation in Flanders, Belgium ».
David Nauwelaers and Len Van Looy first told us a bit about the origins of these celebrations in Belgium, which, back in the days, were clearly anti-Catholic/anti-religious and supposed to represent a counteroffer for those families who wished to make a political statement in favour of liberal and socialist values.

AHA publiziert "Gut ohne Gott"
Wir freuen uns mitteilen zu können, dass wir das Buch "Buoni senza Dio. Guida illustrata alla filosofia umanista" ins Deutsche übersetzt haben.
Gut ohne Gott ist eine kurze, illustrierte Reise in 11 Schritten, die sich an 13- bis 15-jährige Mädchen und Jungen richtet, die sich zum ersten Mal mit ihren Zweifeln an Gott und Religion auseinandersetzen. Denn auch heute noch werden Jugendliche, die sich mit der Möglichkeit des Atheismus auseinandersetzen, oft mit der rhetorischen Frage konfrontiert: "Wenn Du nicht an Gott glaubst, woran glaubst Du dann?”

AHA Lëtzebuerg organises a webinar with Kato MUKASA, Ugandan lawyer and co-founder of the Ugandan Humanist Assocation about "Organized Humanism in Africa: Status & Hope" on 28/02/2022 at 6:30PM (CET)
In this talk, held in English, Kato MUSAKA will be drawing from two of his more recent books: The God Business and the Death of Reason in Africa (2021), and: Modern Humanism, and How to make it work for the People. He will explore the history of religion in Africa, both traditional religions and those imported by colonists, and the effect that religion has had on the lives and the thinking of people in Uganda and further afield throughout Africa. Kato will also talk about his view of practical Humanism, how it should not be restricted to conferences and lecture theatres but be taken to the grassroots where it can be seen in action. Modern Humanism is more concerned with activism and there are several ways through which Humanism can be made more relevant.
